book summary

Sylvie by Jennifer Sattler is a remarkably simple way to teach your children to be happy with themselves as they are. Sylvie is a pink flamingo who is questioning why she is the color that she is. As her mother explains that she is pink because of the foods she eats, she tries all different types of foods throughout the day to change her appearance, having fun along the way.  The problem comes at the end of the day when Sylvie just doesn’t feel well and well, doesn’t feel like herself at all. She ends the day by realizing that she loves being pink just like her family and plans to go back to eating the foods that she is supposed to eat to stay true to herself.  It’s a great lesson to teach children who are struggling to fit in.
