book summary

Goldfish on Vacation is based on the amazing but true story of a fountain in New York City that was transformed into a goldfish pond one summer. Siblings, H, Little O, and Baby E are visiting their grandfather in New York city. They feel stuck with only their pet goldfish, Patch, Barracuda, and Fiss for company. They are convinced that it will be a boring summer until they notice that renovation work has begun on the old fountain down the street that had been neglected for years. The kids’ grandfather told them that horses used to drink from the fountain before everyone had cars. After all the trash had been cleaned up, the fountain began to show new signs of life. A sign appeared that said "Calling All Goldfish Looking for a Summer Home”. The fountain had been restored and was now ready to offer goldfish from the neighborhood a temporary home where the fish could swim outside the confines of a small fish bowl and mingle with other goldfish. The children from the neighborhood eagerly brought their goldfish to the pond. The fountain that had once been an eyesore in the neighborhood had been transformed into a fun community gathering place.
